The name of this hostel is taken from the Kalut (a sand dune) in Shahdad Desert in Kerman Province. The building of Kalout Hostel which is located in the old city of Yazd dates back to the Qajar period, around 160 years ago. In 2016, it was opened as a traditional hostel under the name of Kalout in Imam Street.
When you enter the Kalout Hostel, you will see a two-story completely historic house in which you can feel the traditional atmosphere. In the courtyard, traditional beds and couches are arranged with a round pond surrounded by lush trees. It seems naturally age-old. On the left side of the yard, there is a semi-traditional kitchen in which the guests themselves can cook a variety of meals in order to feel home.
On the roof of the Kalout Hostel, there is a barbecue and a brazier where anyone can make her/himself grilled potatoes, a fire-made tea and kebab. The Kalout House has 7 traditional three-door and five-door rooms that has 18 beds in total. The owner tried his best to keep solidarity and pleasure feeling in the house for the guests not to feel lonely and homesickness.
The facilities and services in the hostel include the traditional tea house, a restaurant, TV, Internet, laundry, room service and English-speaking friendly staff.
Tourist attractions and historic sites close to Kalout Hostel include Jenok Water Reservoir, Khan Complex, Water Museum, Jameh Mosque, Amir Chakhmaq Mosque, Hazireh Mosque, etc. In general, the hostel is close to large number of historic attraction due to its location in the old city of Yazd.
