About Haft Badgiri Ab Anbar ( water reservoir ) of Asr Abad
One of the unique ab anbars in Iran is Haft Badgiri Ab Anbar of Asr Abad located in Asr Abad Abandoned Village around Zarch. Its constructon dates back to Mozafareddin Shah of Qajar dynasty and it is one of the buildings made by benefactor Arbab Keikhosro Mehraban (the founder of Keikhosro School in Yazd) and one of the charitable Zoroastrians of Yazd.
Although this ab anbar was made by a Zoroastrian to be used only by the local Zoroastrians and it has no kiblah like the other ab anbars in Iran, it has been used by passer by Muslim visitors and pilgrims as it is located beside the old road of Yazd to Tabas and Mashhad. The ab anbar has a single entrance but two separate Pashirs (tanks) separated by a brick wall.
The architecture of Haft Badgiri Ab Anbar of Asr Abad
Haft Badgiri Ab Anbar is not only at the top row of ab anbars in terms of the number of badgirs along with Hossein Abad Ab Anbar of Rastaq in yazd, but it is also among the few number of two-repository ab anbars in Iran which are attached together. The height of these repositories from the floor is more than 2 m and the height of badgirs from the ground is about 6m. The badgirs are four-sided and each side has four holes to function as air conditioners.
The badgirs are beautifully decorated and the decorations have a zigzag mouth-tooth style with the upper parts being decorated with Sharafi bricks.
The interesting point is that from a far view, all the seven badgirs seem to be in a row and this has made it a great masterpiece of that time.
Haft Badgiri Ab Anbar was registered in the list of Iran National Monuments with registration no. 7753.
