Architecture of Mirror and Lighting Museum
Mirror & Lighting Meseum Complex which is also known as Mirror Palace is located in a large garden with the area of 8174 m2.
Let's enter the garden heading to the building. We will appreciate its traditional Persian and European architectural style. Passing through the maze of corridors, we get into a room which is decorated with gorgeous moldings, drawings and mirrors. We will be attracted to the building not only because of its art and architecture but also because of the fabulous things we are going to see.
The building was decorated by Iranian artists. Do not miss visiting the springhouse which is the most decorated part.
In 1320 SH, Mr Sarafzadeh ordered to build a mansion with the area of 837 m2 in the garden which could receive his guests. After Iran revolution in 1979, the garden was transferred to Mostazafan Foundation and has been used as a museum since 1377 SH (1998 AD). Its springhouse is used as a photography, drawing and painting, and calligraphy gallery.
Various Collections in Mirror and Lighting Museum
Here, we can see various kinds of fat - burnings, candles, oil lamps, matches, and ancient electric things .
There are 124 items in the museum that can be grouped into six categories: 1. Fat - burning items including: installations, hung, handy, and floor fat - burnings; 2. Candles: installations, hung, handy, and floor candles; 3. Oil lamps; 4. Gas lamps; 5. Electric lights; and 6. Mirrors .
Interestingly, the oldest thing in the museum is related to fat - burning items dating back to Sassanid era.
In the museum, we can also see collections of manual scripts, weapons, coins, books, stamps, locks, horse bits (dating back to the second millennium BC) and some bronze items from Poland.
