Saheb A Zaman Zurkhaneh

Saheb A Zaman Zurkhaneh is one of the most famous Zurkhanehs in Yazd. Zurkhanehs which literally means House of Strength are traditional sport clubs in which gentlemen do exercise using heavy wooden clubs to build muscles, these gentlemen are expected to have chivalrous values and make piece inside the neighborhood in the case of any conflict. Saheb A Zaman Zurkhaneh is located in Amir Chakhmaq Complex. It is actually renovated form of the storage of Amir Chakhmaq Ab Anbar which was ruined and useless after the rise of modern water supply system. The structure of Saheb A Zaman Zurkhaneh is crowned with five badgirs. 
It must be mentioned that the structure was renovated by Ali Derhami known as Mohammad Mashti (a hero gentleman) in 2001. Now Saheb A Zaman Zurkhaneh is managed by Mr. Derhami. 
Saheb A Zaman Zurkhaneh is an active zurkhaneh in which Pahlevani and zoorkhaneh rituals such as Persian ancient sports, charitable ceremonies known as Golrizan are practiced in certain manners to display the chivalrous practice of the gentlemen.
While visiting Amir Chakhmaq Complex, you are recommended to spend time to visit Saheb A Zaman Zurkhaneh where you can watch the ancient sports and rituals as well as hear the Persian poems and verses recited by Morshed who is singing and beating the zarb (drum) and zang (bell) at the same time. 
You must pay to watch the rituals but the price is not set and it is cheap. Enjoy the heroic atmosphere.
