Having decided to travel to Yazd , we should visit Hazireh Mosque ( Roze Mohammadiye ) .
Hazireh Mosque is located in Pir-o Borj neighborhood, east Imam Khomeini Street.
How Was Hazireh Mosque Built?
In 834 A.H., with wealth of Shams al- Din Mohammad Ibn Zein al- Din Alishah Meybodi, a monument was built in front of Darvazeh Fath ( Hazireh Mosque door) to shelter poor people and provide a space for worshiping God.
The reason for building such monument was that Alishah's wife was sick and weak. So one icy winter night, when she was passing through the gate, she decided to build a complex of a mosque, a bath, a water reservoir, and a shelter for travelers in the case she could survive that night.
The present building of the mosque was started to be built in 1979 having Ayatollah Sadouqi as supervisor. The mosque is still expanding.
Architecure of Hazireh Mosque
The monument includes a façade and two stunning minarets which are decorated with blue tile works bearing Toranj design and Kufic bearings.
Unlike other mosques, Hazireh Mosque has two shabestans. Western shabestan includes lofty and tetrahedral pillars, a stone platform, and stained reticular large wooden doors. While another shabestan includes two short iwans with wooden façade and small and stained windows which are broken in some parts. It seems that latter is much older and smaller than the former.
Interestingly, there are two grave stones belonging to a couple. It is said that mosque's land belonged to them.
Did you know that there is no historical inscriptions in the mosque ?
Ayatollah Sadouqi was buried here and his tomb is decorated with mosaic tiles bearing some Persian - Islamic design.
If we are visiting bazaar, we must not forget to view three spectacular mosques: Jame mosque , Amir Chakhmaq , and Hazireh ; from bazaar roof.
