Yazd is famous for its mudbrick architecture and badgirs (wind towers) which are consistent elements to the hot and dry climate of the region. Nowruz in Yazd

Like other Iranians, the people in Yazd have their own customs and traditions during the Nowruz (the first days of a new year); however, some of these customs are same or similar to the customs of the other cities in the country.

The most important of these customs is Chaharshanbe Suri. The last Wednesday of the Persian year is called Chaharshanbe Suri. In this festival, people gather in a wide open-air area, make some fire, and jump over the fire. Fire was believed by ancient Iranians to purify things out of pollution so, people jump over the fire to get purified and ready for the new year. Before Nowruz, people try to clean their houses, which is called in everyday Farsi as Khoone-Tekooni, bake cakes and sweet bread, purchase new clothes specially for children. So if you travel to Iran specially Yazd at Nowruz eve, you will be amazed by crowd of people shopping new things for their houses and themselves as they believe that everything should change into new in new year.
