The History of Heidarzadeh Museum of Coin and Anthropology of Yazd
Heidarzadeh Museum of Coin and Anthropology of Yazd is located in the Arabzadeh House, Fahadan district in Yazd. The 800-square-meter house with 10 halls dating back to the Qajar period was rebuilt in 2003 and was opened as Heidarzadeh Museum of Coin and Anthropology.
The Architecture of Coin Museum of Yazd
The building of Heidarzadeh Museum of Coin and Anthropology has special features of the Qajar period, which includes Karbandi (works of art on the ceiling) and gypsum modellings bearing Arabesque. In addition, there is a large hall between 3 and 5 door rooms which has beautiful wooden treasures and etc.
Collections in Heidarzadeh Museum of Coin and Anthropology
In the specialized Coin Museum of Yazd, there is a collection of 5,000 old gold, silver, copper and brass coins belonging to Abbas ibn Ma'moun and Ahmad ibn Ali Samani, and the Nadir Shah Coins with the Shia slogan and the coins of the accession of Karim Khan Zand. Moreover, there is old paper money dating back to Naser al-Din Shah period at Heidarzadeh’s Musseum of Coin and Anthropology of Yazd.
There are also 1000 items including anthropological treasures and objects related to 42 historical periods of the past (from the Achaemenid period to now), ornaments and prayer beads (silver, opal, amber and brass), documents and manuscripts in the museum, all of which were collected from 1956 by Mr. Heidarzadeh, one of the outstanding professors of numismatics and cultural heritage collectors.
Among the other old objects in Heidarzadeh Museum of Coin and Anthropology, you can find a set of cooking items (stone and copper pots, vats and jars), lighting tools (oil lamps, candle and oil lamps, train guide lamps), 100 locks and war instruments.
