Shokuhi House of Yazd (Yazd Cultural Heritage Office)

Shokuhi House of Yazd is about 110 years old and we can surely say that it is one of the most beautiful monuments left from Qajar era.

Founder of Shokuhi House in Yazd

Mr. Vaziri, RIP, who was the founder of Vaziri Library of Yazd, enjoyed great political power in his lifetime and was one of the most famous and wealthy people of Yazd. He ordered to construct a house with original Persian architecture.
In the process of transferring this house to Mr. Shokouhi, the name of this mansion changed into Shokuhi House.

Four Large Courtyards in the Heart of Shokuhi House of Yazd

Shokouhi House has four big courtyards, one of which is called Narenjestan and has a separate entrance from the street. Another courtyard leads to the interior parts and has a very big pond. The other two courtyards are on the other sides of the building and have a way to other sections. Yazdi architecture can be clearly observed in the construction of this building.

The Beautiful Vernacular Architecture of Shokuhi House

Shokouhi House has a large hall and a panjdari (five-door room) overlooking the garden and iwans. This mansion has several banquet rooms. A variety of plaster work, mirror works and colored sash windows have been used inside the building providing this adobe building with a special allure. A small dome roof is installed on Shokouhi House to keep the house's air cool constantly and prevent extreme heat of Yazd, a desert city.

The current owner of Shokuhi House is the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of Yazd.

Shokuhi House of Yazd is located near Jameh Mosque of Yazd.
