Rashtian House is a historical house located in the center of old city of Yazd in which the noble and famous Rashtian family used to live long time ago.
About Rashtian House
Made of adobe, this 200-year-old house dates back to Qajari era. Rashtian house enjoys a delicate and exquisite architecture. According to inscriptions in the house, the construction dates back to 1797 (1212 A.H) and it is believed to belong to "Shah Shoja", the founder of Mozaffarid dynasty.
Pleasing Courtyards and Qanat of Rashtian House
This house has three big courtyards, four small ones, and four entrances at different sides. The first courtyard is birooni (outer) courtyard, specifically used to receive guests, and the second courtyard is andarooni (inner) courtyard. The andarooni (inner) courtyard was a place where the Rahtian family lived. There is a big pond in the first courtyard and two other stone ponds in the second courtyard. The area of the house is estimated to be about 1500 square meters. The water of Zarch Qanat passes through this house and its cellars. Cool basements, high badgirs, fine halls, and the ceiling of the rooms have been magnificently put together.
