Imam Hosseini House of Yazd was born out of a dream
It is a good idea to narrate the story of Imam Hosseini House: Haj Mohammad Lari, a resident of the city of Lar in Fars province, according to a tale, had a dream about Imam Hussain, then he came to Yazd in accordance with his command and bought a piece of land in a district known as “Makhzan” and constructed a building there, called Imam Hosseini House.
Another narration says that Haj Mohammad Lari, RIP, was told in his dream to move to Yazd and buy a piece of land at a certain place that belonged to two orphans. When he came to Yazd, he looked for that place and found out that it had been a true dream. He bought the land and built a house that had three parts: Imam Hosseini House for mourning, custodian house that is where the janitor dwells, and the kitchen.
Imam Hosseini House of Yazd was built in 1871 and completed in 1873 and the mourning ceremony began in the same year. In other words, it has been 183 years that people go to Imam Hosseini House to mourn for Imam Hussain.

Let’s enter the House. The courtyard of the Imam Hosseini House, despite not being large, is embellished with beautiful tiles. There is a pond in the middle of the courtyard, which is full of water in commemorations. The house has several parts, including a teahouse, a courtyard, a tented room (reminding the tents of the martyrs of Karbala which were fired by Yazid and his troops) and a mosque. This house has undergone some renovations. Its mosque was repaired two decades ago, and the men’s entrance has also changed into the present form. However, the campground has been renovated and restored without any changes. The roof of the yard is covered with a kind of dropped ceilings, so as the mourners are not disturbed by the heat and cold.
