Salimi House, A Qajari House

The house is historically valuable due to the type of its decorations. Moreover, adjacency to Amir Chakhmaq Complex has listed this building in national heritage and significant monuments in Yazd. 
This historical building belongs to Qajari era and its name is supposed to be taken from its owner.

Architecure of Salimi House

Salimi House has two central courtyards. First courtyard has two entrances in the western and southern sides; however, the entrance in southern side is blocked. The second courtyard has an entrance in the eastern side. The house is built of clay, bricks, and the mixture of clay and plaster.

First Courtyard of Salimi House

First Courtyard has a four-sided design in two floors. Its main entrance is situated at the west side of the building and the other entrance is situated at the south side.
Right after the main entrance of the first courtyard, there is a vestibule with an arched roof on which a skylight can be seen. Also, there is a corridor at the eastern part of this vestibule which connects it to the southern porch and the central yard. The ceiling of the corridor is covered with flat khonche poush (an architectural term meaning arched ceilings with decorative hanging moldings).

The main part of Salimi House is located at the southern side that is a big porch with arched ceiling. Inside the porch, there is a space above which there used to a badgir ( wind tower ) which is now destroyed. At both sides of this porch, there are two rooms in the first floor connected to the ground floor using some corridors.
In the western side of this courtyard, there are three two-door rooms (do dari). Two corridors at both sides of the room in the middle connect this rooms to the two-door rooms on the first floor.
At the north side of this courtyard, there is a three-door room ( sedari ) which is connected to the rooms on the first floor through corridors on its sides. The ceiling of these corridors are covered with Kalil (an architectural term for Persian shallow arched ceilings) and under this three-door room, we can find a stairway to the basement. 

Second Courtyard of Salimi House 

At the eastern side of this courtyard, there is also a porch connecting the two courtyards. The ceiling of the porch is decorated with Kalil, moldings, and fillets. Also, we can see the entrance of cellar at this side. The second courtyard is also built in two floors and has a quadrilateral design. Regarding its decorations and architectural style, this courtyard is older and has an entrance at the eastern side connected to the vestibule and the central yard by a corridor. 

There's a porch covered with Kalil at the southern side of this courtyard inside which there is a space for the badgir above. At both sides of this porch, there are some corridors covered with Khoncheh poush ceilings. 
Two three-door rooms ( sedari ) are situated at the western side of this courtyard which are connected to the rooms upstairs.
At the north side of this courtyard, there's a porch and a three - door room ( sedari ). 

Salimi House of Yazd was registered in Iran National Monuments with the registration no. 31313.
