The lab-e-Khandaq Historical Hotel in Yazd is a Qajari House belonged to the family of Tayyebi. Local people know the house by the name of its owner. The name Lab-e-Khandaq was given to this hotel because of its location, the neighborhood is called lab-e-khandaq which means at the edge of a moat, in the old time a deep moat was dug around the city for defense and safety.

The Narenjestan courtyard has a very high badgir (wind tower) and a rectangular blue pond in the middle of the 2 gardens decorated with traditional bricks. Traditionally large and small traditional samovars are always boiling in the tea house. The wooden couches are placed in the courtyard. The ceiling of the yard is covered with a large cloth containing the symbol of a lion. So the harmony of pond, gardens, couches, samovars, and lion on top creates a pleasant and nice place to sit and drink and enjoy.

The hotel has 11 rooms of 26 beds, some of which are blended of old and modern designs. Some rooms are completely traditional and without beds decorated with old and antique things even the samovar, it looks like a very old room for those who like to sleep on the floor and experience a perfect traditional stay.
